Audio converter.
Any audio file your browser can read, as an MP3, a WAV or an M4A: a song, an album, a voice note, a recording. Drop one or a whole folder, pick the format, and each file downloads as it finishes, with its tags. Converted on your own machine.
01 Files
MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG and Opus, or a video for its sound, as many as you like. The files are read on your device and never upload.
02 Convert to
192 kbps is transparent for most music; 320 if it is going back into an editor; 128 is plenty for speech. Title, artist, album and cover are carried over. Each file downloads as it finishes.
Converted, then a video
A song on its way to YouTube, TikTok or Reels still needs a picture there. Above, a frame from our music visualizer, which turns the converted file into a video that moves with it; audio to video does the same for any of the formats below with a still cover.

How to convert an audio file
There are two conversions most people need. To MP3, to make a file small and playable on anything: a WAV bounce, an M4A from an iPhone, a FLAC album, an OGG from a game or a voice note. And to WAV, to get a file into a program that wants uncompressed audio. This page does both, for every format the browser reads, with the tags and cover carried into the MP3. The files are decoded and encoded on your machine, a piece at a time, so nothing uploads and a long recording is no problem.
- Drop the files anywhere on the page, or click to choose them: MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, Opus or AAC, mixed freely. Each shows its format, sample rate and length at once.
- Pick MP3 (128, 192 or 320 kbps) to make files small and playable everywhere, WAV for an editor, a DAW or a CD, or M4A for Apple devices.
- Press Convert. The files go one after another, each with its own progress line, and each downloads under its original name as soon as it is done.

Questions
Which formats can it convert?+
In: MP3, WAV (16 and 24-bit), M4A with AAC, FLAC up to 24-bit and 96 kHz, OGG Vorbis, Opus (.opus, .ogg or WebM) and raw .aac, all tested in Chrome. A video works too, for its sound. Out: MP3 at 128, 192 or 320 kbps, WAV, or M4A (AAC, copied untouched when the source is already AAC). Each pair has its own page below with the details that matter for it.
MP3 or WAV: which do I want?+
MP3 to send, store or play: about a seventh of the size of a WAV at 192 kbps, and every device plays it. WAV to edit or import: uncompressed, nothing lost in another save, and the format DAWs, samplers and CD burning software expect. Converting a lossy file to WAV makes it bigger, not better.
What about AIFF, WMA or Apple Lossless?+
Chrome and Edge do not decode them, tested, so the row says so instead of converting. Safari decodes AIFF and Apple Lossless with its own decoder, so open this page there. For WMA, export it from the program that made it.
Why can it not make FLAC or OGG?+
Not yet. MP3, WAV and M4A are the three every program and phone opens, and they cover most of what people convert for. If you need another output, the site's contact address is on the About page.
Is there a limit on files or length?+
No limit we set. Files convert a piece at a time, so a two hour recording does not have to fit in memory as audio; only the finished file does, which for an MP3 is small and for a WAV is about ten megabytes a minute.
Is my audio uploaded?+
No. Each file is decoded and encoded in your browser, a piece at a time, and the download is made there. Nothing leaves your machine, nothing is watermarked, and there is no queue. The page only counts that a file was converted, with the formats, never a name or the audio.
How fast is it?+
Measured in Chrome on a laptop with a two minute song: WAV to a 192 kbps MP3 in about two and a half seconds, MP3 to WAV in under two. A phone is slower. Files go one at a time, so a batch takes the sum of its files.
Which encoder makes the MP3?+
LAME, the open-source MP3 encoder most audio software uses, compiled to run in the browser. The MP3 is constant bitrate at the source's sample rate (48 kHz for anything above), with an ID3v2 tag.
