MP3 to WAV.
Editors, samplers, CD burners and some video tools want WAV. Drop one MP3 or a folder of them, and each comes back as uncompressed 16-bit PCM at its own sample rate, ready to import. Converted on your own machine.
01 Files
MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG and Opus, or a video for its sound, as many as you like. The files are read on your device and never upload.
02 Convert to
Lossless PCM at the file's own sample rate: 24-bit sources stay 24-bit, everything else is 16-bit. Each file downloads as it finishes.
Converted, then a video
A song on its way to YouTube, TikTok or Reels still needs a picture there. Above, a frame from our music visualizer, which turns the converted file into a video that moves with it. For a cover held still with the sound, use WAV to MP4; for a voice recording, the waveform video maker.
How to convert MP3 to WAV
An MP3 is compressed; a WAV is the same sound written out sample by sample. Converting does not bring back anything the MP3 encoder threw away, and the file grows seven to eleven times. What it buys is compatibility: DAWs and video editors import WAV without decoding it first, hardware samplers and older DJ gear read it, and CD burning software expects it. The MP3 is decoded in your browser and written out as PCM; nothing uploads.
- Drop the MP3 files anywhere on the page, or click to choose them, one or a whole folder. Each shows its format, sample rate and length at once. No file to hand? Try the sample.
- Keep WAV. It is written at the file's own sample rate, 16-bit, or 24-bit when the source is.
- Press Convert. The files go one after another, each with its own progress line, and each WAV downloads under the original name as soon as it is done.

Questions
Does converting MP3 to WAV improve the sound?+
No. The WAV holds exactly what the MP3 decodes to, nothing more: what the encoder discarded is gone. Convert when a program needs WAV, not to make a file sound better. If you have the original WAV or FLAC somewhere, use that instead.
How big is the WAV?+
About ten megabytes a minute for stereo at 44.1 kHz, the size of a CD's audio: a four minute song of 6 to 9 MB as an MP3 becomes about 42 MB. A mono MP3 gives a mono WAV, half that. The size is shown on each row before you convert.
Which sample rate and bit depth is the WAV?+
16-bit, which holds everything an MP3 can carry, at the MP3's own sample rate: 44.1 kHz for most music, which is the CD format, or 48 kHz for audio that came from video. Nothing is resampled. Most CD burning software takes either and converts 48 kHz itself.
Why does the WAV start with a little silence?+
Every MP3 encoder adds a short run of padding at the start and the end, and the WAV keeps it: on a LAME file we measured 1,107 samples, 25 ms, at the start. You will not hear it on a song. If you are lining up a loop or a sample to the grid, trim the start in the audio trimmer.
Are the tags kept?+
The title, artist and album go into the WAV's INFO chunk, which many editors and players read. The cover is dropped: WAV has no standard place for a picture. Tested with ID3 tagged MP3s.
Is my audio uploaded?+
No. Each file is decoded and encoded in your browser, a piece at a time, and the download is made there. Nothing leaves your machine, nothing is watermarked, and there is no queue. The page only counts that a file was converted, with the formats, never a name or the audio.
How fast is it?+
Measured in Chrome on a laptop with a two minute song: WAV to a 192 kbps MP3 in about two and a half seconds, MP3 to WAV in under two. A phone is slower. Files go one at a time, so a batch takes the sum of its files.
